Here is what Garmin have to say on the matter -from their FAQ section.

"Why can't I find the route I sent from MapSource on my nuvi 200, 205, 300, 600, 1100, 1200, 1300, 2200, 2300, or 3700 series device?

The nuvi 200, 205, 300, 600, 1100, 1200, or 1300 series do not support multiple stop routing. Although MapSource will indicate that a route has been sent to the device successfully, these devices are unable to read the file since they do not support that feature. MapSource can still be used to transfer maps and waypoints to the devices.

Although the nuvi 2200, 2300, and 3700 series do support multiple stop routing, they will not display routes sent from MapSource. These devices use the Trip Planner and do not currently have a way to import the transferred routes into the Trip Planner."

Hope this info helps someone....

So rather than spend extra on the 2200 for no new worthwhile features, I bought a 1210 recently for £40 BNIB off a mate for my scooter & car (still have 2820 for bike).

This arrived 2 weeks a go with 2008 maps and I used the one-time free update to instal the latest maps.

That's a bit cheeky, obviously trying to stem the tide of users buying Nuvis instead of Zumos. Would like to get my hands on one to see if there's a way around that.

The new Nuvi do predictive routing. They store your trips and then when you next set off in a particular direction, they suggest that you might like to repeat a previous trip.

Thanks for that, I had been thinking about a 2240 as a back-up for a Europe trip (don't want to shell out for a Zumo), thinking that with the 100 routes I might be able to use Mapsource with routes I have been given (organized tour).

You've saved me a ton+ there mate, plans blown out the water again! Had kind of gone off the idea anyway after Bumpkin gave me some guidance on my post re: regional maps.

Looks like it's the Michelin maps for me again this year...left it all too late as usual!

Must admit personally now I only load the location of booked hotels in to the sat nav and use maps to get in between far more fun, using the sat nav for the final navigation into the town where hotel is located.

Yeah, it's always that last bit in the towns when you get trapped in one-way hell after a long ride!
