100RT Carbs/ fuel tap/petrol pipes

Blissfully riding along the A33 tonight. Engine fades away, I switched the fuel taps to reserve expecting the bike to kick back into life, it didn't.

I looked in the tank prior to leaving work en route home, I thought I had enough

After sitting in the lay by (lucky place to pull in to) I tried to start the bike, it ran, but wouldn't idle and seemed hesitant.

AA were arriving at some point.

I pulled ther fuel line off of the L/H tap, fuel flowed, same for the R/H tap.
I dropped the float bowls, right side appeared reasonably deep, left side had about 3mm of fuel

Pulled the fuel line from the nearside of the carb after the filter, fuel flowed. Pulled fuel line from carb, no fuel flow

AA man arrives I told him what I had found, we put some petrol in, and it ran perfectly.

I don't understand why the left bowl was not filling, or why fuel was not flowing from the fuel pipe at the carb end?

think I'll be replacing all the fuel lines, although if it flows when the main tap is on, why doesn't it when the reserve tap is on?

Thoughts anyone?

Pull the petcock, & clean the fuel filter sock over the petcock straws. That's where all the rubbish in your tank ends up sitting. You probably also need to clean out the tank.

Try checking the filters inside the fuel tank.
There is a longer pipe for regular fuel supply, and a shorter pipe
for the reserve. Suspect the shorter/ reserve
pipe is clogged up with crud from the tank.
Try removing fuel taps from tank and cleaning the
pipes and gauze filters.

What are the odds of any O rings still sealing when I reassemble it?

Although if it is flowing fuel from both taps then it won't be the fuel tap, it flowed easily from both sides, I suspect the fuel line.

The existing "T" piece that connects the left and right sides looks shit with the jubilee clips, what are the alternatives, and where can I get them?

Another thought - nipped/blocked breather pipe from the petrol filler cap all the way down to the centre stand ?
