10yr old's homework .

he can open the previous word doc but when you try to do anything it says locked for edit
When in the edit drop down none of the options are highlighted as per the help instructions.
So his works there but cant do anything with it.
Any ideas

Try and copy the file to another name using explorer.
Or open it and save-as.
Either of those should clear an edit lock.

Is there another copy of his doc already open somewhere, as these are the symptoms of having the same doc open in two places.

Don't forget the old faithful. turn it off and on again (re-boot). This even cured the coffee machine at work yesterday and I have do it to my phone occasionally
