Hi All

having just been for a quick jaunt to norfolk with SWMBO, i just wondered if anyone has changed the exhaust on a 11 plate GSA as SWMBO was complaining about the droneing while on motorways, she said never had this on your old bike 09GSA

what is the difference between the two bikes exhausts would i be able to put an old one onto the newer bike

thanks

You could weld the exhaust flapper valve shut

or wait a while and it will do the same all by itself.

;)

Just had my exhaust valve replaced under warranty. Should it fail outside then I'll be going to wunderlich for one of their blanking rings.

Some stainless tube off ebay would do the same job for a fraction of the cost.

The Akra cans are loud but a generic dB killer softens the noise nicely. I fitted one that's one size smaller than the outlet and spaced it on washers to sit it centrally. Minimal flow restriction but kills the harsh noise.

excuse the ignorance isnt the akro a loud pipe anyway

actually with the baffles left in ( removable ) the volume is exactly the same as the standard oem can, get your local dealer to have a look at yours as it sounds like there may be another reason if you feel its too loud at moment.

My standard twin cam 2012 oe exhaust has without doubt got louder after my remap at hilltop ,and whilst touring with panniers on its even louder ,but in a good way and no need to make it louder by putting an aftermarket can on ,I also have the pleasure of no pillions in my riding so have no complaints ,I do also wear earplugs to get rid of noises ,turbulence mainly :thumb

i dont have an issue with it but when SWMBO is on that back she keeps saying this isn't as quite as your old bike and normally ends up with a headache with the noise

i did say that she could have some music on but then i thought no i would have to put up with her singing

help:beer::beer:

I normally use ear plugs. But the other day did about 10 miles at motorway speed with side cases without ear plugs. Noise was not *bad* but when I arrived head was ringing. The Givi 330 is pretty good for wind noise so probably exhaust was more of an issue.

Now looking for some medium grade ear plugs that wont block everything out.

Yer can fit the baffle from a pre twin cam akro to the twin cam akro as i've done. Nearly as quiet as the old one ! Thats with a remap as well. :beerjug:
