110,000 miles and climbing!!

Another milestone for the truly magnificent "Angie B". 110,000 and still going strong. Not a bad place to hit the milestone......John Day fossil beds in Oregon last week

I love this bike and will never, ever get rid of her.

Some would say it's an old relic, ridden by an old relic surrounded by old relics ........:ague

70,000 and counting....commutes daily in all weathers and 6 years down the line I really can't fault it. Seat was changed 5 years back.

but i don't think thats bad in 8 weeks with no commuting !

It was changed under a recall I think a few years ago although it was working fine. This one has been no bother either

So am I, only got 41000 on in a little over 2 years and hoping to get a bit more out of it after I've finished the payments.

Mine has needed a drive shaft UJ and FD rebuild at 50K. Expect another before it's done 110K. Clutch is down to 60% thickness so don't expect more than another 20K from that. It's also had the seat frame stripped and refinished due to rust. Another 6 years on original paint would have it falling apart.

I'm in awe of you guys. I've never had the nuts to keep a GS beyond its warranty period. I don't like the look of the WC so maybe my TC could become a keeper

Met a couple of guys in Peebles one afternoon:

One had 120,000m on his Gixxer 1000, the other had 110,000 on his 2004 R-1. Neither had required the valves shimming, and both survived on home maintenance.

And to think that most people turn their noses up at 30,000 miles on a purchase........

And they are foolish to in my opinion. Most engines should do 200,000 miles easily enough with regular maintenance as they are so well built. I've seen plenty of bikes in the US with starship mileage whereas we just think they will explode if you either do more than 3000 miles a year or run them after the warranty is out.

It's true you have to keep on top of maintenance but at least you have a bike you know inside out, can make it "yours" and there is no depreciation after a few years.
