1100 ABS querie

The ABS system on my 98 1100 occasionally was occasionally playing up. I put it down to the rocker switch which had a very sticky action. Ordered another and fitted it it (battery disconnected at time) however now the system is constantly showing a fault via the two flashing lights.
Would it be possible to rectify the problem with a system reset and is it the same procedure as for the 1150 (bike not to hand so can't check wire colours)?
Also should it be possible to turn the ABS off via the switch and again if so what's the procedure?

[Steptoe]

3 pin plug under seat, remove the blue cover (if fitted), earth the centre wire, turn on ignition and press ABS button for 10 seconds.
