I've just fitted an 'official accessory' 1100GS tank bag to my 1150GS and it doesn't seem to be very secure. I'd assumed that the 1100 and 1150 tanks were the same shape - is this not the case?

The bag seems to slide side to side as the front mounting doesn't stay put in the centre of the tank. Maybe it's just because the bag's empty, but I'd have expected it to be more solid. The rear mounting bit with the zip doesn't seem to form a particularly close friendship with the tank either and yes, I put the seat back on!

Any thoughts?

1100, 1150 & GSA tanks are all interchangeable.

Metal 1100 & 1150 tanks should be the same. Only difference is that the plastic tank from early 1100's is 24, not 22 litres? Not sure how different in shape it is. I assume it's a little wider?

OK, so I'm just being fussy. I guess it'll be better with something in it to hold it steady.

Cheers.

The "U" bracket at the front and rear of the tank bag is a lot deeper for the plastic tanks.

Anyway what did you expect for a £150 BMW bag? Surely you didn't expect it to actually fit

And if it is one of the early ones just wait till you take it out in the rain...how you'll laugh :D

No, I'm saving all my glue for sticking your Hella lights on.....;)

Fortunately this is a £40 pre-abused bag. I couldn't stomach paying for a new one.

Well it did come with a trendy (faded) dayglo yellow raincoat so at least if I'm not laughing anyone else who sees it will be.

How do I tell if it's an early or late one? No, no, don't tell me - the early ones leak?

Sounds like you will need some glue after all - even better if it's a sealing one...

Thats the one that turns into a demented jellyfish when it rides upto the top of the tankbag at anything above 50Mph...and the map pocket steams up at the first sign of rain...handy tankbad to have though :D
