1100 CAT replacing with simple plain pipe?

Wanna remove CAT from my 1100 and replace it with simple pipe temporary - going to Iran where's only 85-89 octan petrol (& leaded aka CAT killer!). Possible? Do i need special pipe for CAT replacement that resist high exhaust temperatures, or some usual steel ones will do the job too?

Does the CAT have any sensors attached? Or i can just take the CAT off without changing anything?

Are you sure you have a CAT on your 1100 ? My 1999 model doesn't have one (Belgium model) I don't think the UK ones have them either so I'd be a bit surprised if Estonian ones do.....

If you are maybe confusing the front silencer with being a CAT then don't worry about it - an 'S'shaped pipe can be fitted there but it'll be a bit louder .
The way to tell is look for something that looks a bit like a spark plug down near the right footpeg. There should be a wire connected to it - if you have one of them then you have a sensor and you have a CAT in the front silencer. Mine has nothing and many have just a bolt blanking off where the sensor would be sitting.

My german import 98 model 1100 had a cat and a lambda - until i ripped it off and fitted a remus

Got "Made in Germany" & "Made by germans for the germans" BMW native version of 1100 .

CAT and lambda both. Will check later today, but it seems i can't remove the CAT w/o leaving lambda sensor in place - lambda sensor seems to be siting on the same metal part as CAT, right?

If you replace the cat with a Remus S pipe there is a hole to put the lambda in so no probs there, If you are planning on making some thing yourself just build it up then drill and tap a hole for the lambda somewhere near the position it sits in the cat and you should have no problems.
