Dear friends good morning

I ride a '98 1100, which I got 2 months ago and for which I don't have the user manual. Does anyone know if it is supposed to start with gear in and clutch pulled (side stand up of course...). Mine doesn't although it has a clutch switch. And since my neutral switch is starting to behave nasty, I will be needing the clutch switch to operate or else I won't be able to start the bike!!!
Any wiring diagrams to see what happens and fix it??

Thanx guys!

Follow the the switch wiring down, where it plugs into the loom under the tank. Unplug the switch, and bridge the switch ( piece of wire) on loom side.

hey presto you can start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in

BUT BEWARE -You can also start the bike in-gear with the clutch engaged. :blast

so, it IS supposed to start with the clutch pulled! Ok then, I'll see what's the problem with it and change it if necessary!
Thank you all!

It'll be the clutch switch, at the clutch lever :blast

But if you do as i suggested in the previous post, that will confirm it.

thanks mate, I'll disconnect the clutch switch's connector and check for continuity at the switch's side of the connector...and repair or replace as needed...
I just wanted to make sure it has to start with gear and clutch pulled!(well, if it wasn't supposed to work this way, then what would the clutch switch be used for...but I still had to check...)
Thanks!
