i have an 1100 gs and i want to fit 1150 headlights beak clocks i can get the whole front including subframe and oil cooler is it straight forward has anyone done this

It must be possible, theres one on ebay right now that has had the job done, I have no personal experience though.

Stewart

what you have to consider is that on the 1100 the abs, hazards and heated grips switches are mounted on the dash, on the 1150 they are on the handlebars, so you wont have any place to mount the switches in the new dash front your buying. unless you also buy 1150 handlebar swithchgear (costly?)

doing the front conversion could end up a bigger mare than you may think, although it's been done many times.

have you ever stood a 1100 and 1150 next to each other just to see how different the fronts are?

like Stewart i have no experience doing this swap, but just looking at what you want to do would put me off.

probably not if your changing the whole frame and its components.your better off looking at adapting the beak but keeping the 1100 headlight (its better anyhow) thats what most of the conversions have done

so from this i only assume doing the whole hog bit could be more hassle than what its worth.

big question, whats your spanner/electrical skills like?
if your a bit iffy on either/either then leave alone

only my opinion mind

1100 is a better build quality bike my mate has one and he said he wishes he had kept his 1100 the 1150 front looks more modern just like fettling my bike boys and there toys

dude, this could be more than fettling, but go for it, let us know how you get on:thumb2

your mate was right, although the 1100 and 1150 are the same bike underneath:nenau

I'd send a PM to KTMMARK, I think this pic of his bike (nicked from the 'show us your 1100 thread) looks absolutely fantastic. :thumb2

crap :rob
if you look after your bike all will be well " simples "
i have had both.

Having had an 1150 and (currently) an 1100, I much prefer the 1100's light against the later bike's. I ended up with additional lights on my 1150 just to see where the hell I was going on the lanes that are most of my commute.

yup looks good. :thumb2

note the 1100 headlight though:augie

The only change on the front section is the beak. Everything else is 1100.

It can be done. But the oil cooler and hoses need to be changed. The headlight wiring will need seperate high and low beam wiring. And as mentioned you'll need to find a location for the ABS, heated grip and hazard switches.
You'll also need an 1150 speedo, as the 1100 speedo has a different trip wheel and it's in a different position.

just do it
