Hi gang - does your 1100GS have a balance pipe going between the two injector bodies - where the rubber bung on the bottom usually is?

Mine doesn't - but a pal has just bought one, and his has this balance tube between them, in place of the little rubber bungs on the bottom.

Mine is a '99 model - his is a '96 model - should this make a difference?

Someone put my mind at rest - PLEASE !!!!:comfort

No. Mine definitely doesn't... nor do I believe that to be a standard fitting. I don't think the design of the injector bodies changed during the lifetime of the 1100. (on the outside anyway)

I think the merkin models had their charcoal canisters plumbed in there, my 97 has the black caps.

Black caps on my '94 (one of which was missing when I bought it - watch them - they perish and fall off).

Whattons bike has a link hose - And it's of no benefit whatsoever :D.

Just use the standard blanking plugs.

When I was riding Ural, linking carbs made idle smoother. I don"t think gs needs that as an idle is not a problem on welll adjusted gs. On the other hand for russian urals it was quite complex to adjust carbs properly and at that time I hadn't any instrumentts and google to look for adjusting advice :)
