1100 swinging arm in an Airhead

Just to complicate matters

Some of you will recall from earlier posts that I own the ' Desert Storm ' bike and another stock 100Gs paralever.
What I would like to achieve some time in my life is a street only lightweight Gs ,would it be possible to fit an 1100 rear end with a kickstart gearbox in a paralever.
I suppose what I am asking is ,whilst I know that you need a new shaft for a paralever gearbox and a 1100 rear end, are the gearbox ends the same for a paralever and a kickstart box if you know what I mean.
Thought about dumping the elec start.

This is probably a pipe dream but its healthy to dream .

more complications

I've got the impression that the monolever shaft is more reliable than all it's descendants as it had less moving parts and the bits that did move were wet/immersed in oil as opposed to the later dry paralevers so had less failures. Has anyone ever retrofitted a monolever to a paralever? Might be a good idea if you wanted to use a later GS(paralever) for overlanding without the shaft reliability worries.

Hi

In my opinion, the benefits of tubeless tyres easily outweight driveshaft concerns for most overlanding duties. Otherwise you're going to spend a lot of time out there in the heat patching tubes.

But for my fantasy bike, I reckon the real trick is to fit a paralever front end to a monolever chassis and then fit the stronger paralever 4 stud rear wheel. It can be done, just don't ask me how.

Many thanks for the pictures philgunn. That is exactly what I am talking about. My rearend is from a R1100RT, do you think the 2.91 (I think) is too high for this application? Also would not a mono frame be better ( possibly could take care of the shock mounting issues...regards from the TN hillbilly

I suppose when you take into account the cost of a bevel box, swinging arm, drive shaft and all the other bits then you must be getting to that kind of figure. I've got the rest of the kit and just need one of those little beauties.
