1100 - what to look for

whats all this bout wheel turning with the stand down , noticed this weekend , bike on the center , in nuteral , wheel turning , just had a new clutch fitted few weeks back and was advised to adjust after few hundred miles , done , now the tread has worried me !! , 96 1100 , should i be looking for box now ??

Confucius say this is caused by a wheel turning in China - I'll get my bike to do it later and it'll confuse a man in china when his wheel starts to turn, check on the China GS website later today for the post asking the same as you.

I think Steptoe is saying that it's nothing to worry about - probably just clutch drag (can't be a symptom of a bad gearbox anyway - the clutch sits between engine and box?).

No doubt Steptoe or others will correct me if I'm wrong :D

Obvious problem ...... you need to get another valve fitted to the opposite side to the one you currently have. This will balance the wheel properly and stop it turning. Either that or you could carry a large stone to place on the back brake when you go shopping and leave the bike running on its centre stand.

Ps dont get worrying about the Tread until theres none left.

Kev, are you saying that while on the center stand in neutral with the engine running the back wheel is going round..... nothings's wrong with that :nenau does it stop when your stick you boot against it?

Watch out for the box jumping out of gears (up to 1997) sometimes only for a split second. Feels like the rear end losing traction as you wind the throttle on, just for a split second. It will be VERY expensive to sort out. Other than that they are sound. Ish.
