Hi all
I have just removed the bevel box to check bearings and there seems to be play at the input shaft after removing the U/J I can move the shaft side to side a small amount which I feel I should not be able to do as this would surely cause a poor mesh with the crown wheel and cause premature wear? is the pinion bearing clearance adjustable with preload (taper) or is it a fixed clearance and need replacing? How much am i looking at to have this done as I think you need special tools?
Cheers Graham
