1100GS-bleeding probs after Goodridge?

Hi - have a full set of Goodridge brake hoses on their way, and was wondering if anyone else who has also fitted them experienced any probs bleeding the system afterwards?

Do you think it will be necessary to also bleed the ABS unit - if so, after the calipers have been bled, I assume?

Any tips gratefully received.

Interesting Im thinking of getting a set for mine as well. I dont know of any problems with bleeding after fitting these however Im sure someone will be along shortly with better advice ref the ABS as I have a non ABS one.

mmmm I would think it would be a very sensible idea to completely replace the fluid in the braking system - why wouldn't you want to?

that way - nothing to worry about for the next 24 months.

Order of bleeding is modulators then the calipers.

Ah - thanks Steptoe - will do it that way, then!
I intend to change all the fluid, of course - don't think the previous owner had done it - the security filling thingy was still fitted to the front RH caliper - now replaced with the proper nipple.

just changed my rear pipe on my 1100, to the back caliper using goodridge..

put pipe on caliper , open up nipple till fluid flows , then suck on the pipe
sound bad , but if ye use a pipe long enough it works fine , or if yer a use a bleeding kit. the point is to draw the fluid to the final part which is the caliper.

i did it in minutes

You've no neeed to bleed the abs unit/modulator if your only changing the rear brake line as it's all happening down stream of the unit. The front pipes are upstream as well as downstream.

Firsly, I need to source some bits of hardwood, to keep the pistons retracted.

Av by-passed my fekin ABS on rear caliper

put a set of goodrich hoses on my 1100 about six months ago and only bled the calipers not the abs make sure you do NOT turn the ignition on until you have finished,and be prepaired to use a lot of fluid to get the air out i left the tops off overnight and gently sqeezed the levers to expel any remaining air as it allways will find the highest point.
Make sure you use the correct torque settings on the bolts and be patient good luck.
