How long does it take to remove/replace, at a guess?

I don't need to know how, I can figure that out I reckon, just need to know roughly how long it will take.

It needs some cleaning and painting underneath

33 mins to remove

1/2 hour to find a paintrush thats not stiff
15 mins to find the paint can thats not dried out
30 mins to paint it

2 hours to let it dry

3 weeks to get round to putting it back together again. :thumb

Is it really only a half hour job to remove?

The subframe on mine is bent and I was thinking of buying a secondhand one instead of trying to straighten the existing one.

It's either that or a bl***y big scaffold pole and a bit of heave ho ;)
 
I've just stripped mine off my 1150 for powder coating.
Allow yourself a good couple of hours if you haven't done it before.Mainly to keep the bits organised.Its easier if you dont have ABS.:thumb

Then a month looking for all the nuts/bolts/screws and washers, that the mudguard, light, seat lock, seat bracket, fuse/relay box are all fixed to. Then trying to getthe loom to fit back in the same place without squashing any wiring. Then half a day getting the fusebox back in place:blast , and then finding all the plugs aren't going to fit, i.e. gear indicator, nuetral light, abs and brake light wiring because you've routed them wrongly.

Don't believe the muppets that say half hour to remove -You might think that if you have a quick look and a read of the haynes manual. Plus you've also got to factor in the seized bolts that hold the tailight unit in place. Plus removing the footrest hangers, tank, and all the small bits and pieces near the front subframe bolts. Plus crash bars if you've got them fitted.

Was he being rude?

Not sure if I'l bother after all that, it's not exactly ncessitating removal, I could clean around and brush it on, it'll be hidden under the seat. It's just that it's on a join - it's not like it's an 1150 or owt.
 
yes he was being rude - but i'll let him off.

i think after all these posts - it would be rude NOT to do it !!

...with photos and a clock - just so the timings are correct :)
