My build date is 06/07 and I have the M98 transmissiion Read through the font of knowledge for some of the possibles,General condition, earlier gearboxes jumped out of third, probably fixed by now if its done some mileage, it would not put me off and otherwise good bike, many are owner serviced, so full dealer history non essential, reciepts etc for servicing, mileage non crucial (mines fine with 102000) aftermarket suspension is desirable, everything electrical should work, ABS can play up with a low battery, nearly bomb proof

they are the best ones to own, you cant go wrong, unless its had lots of work or been played with.

The bike in question is now safely residing in my garage
and much better than expected 56kms, full dealer service allthough it needs its 50k service doing.
Any recommendations reguarding a suitable exhaust/ y piece combo greatly appreciated

Leave it standard... the original exhaust is the best choice for these bikes.

no y pieces for 1100's as far as i know

most people agree the standard exhaust best suits the fueling of these bikes but i,ve just changed mine for a ebay link pipe9£45) and aftermarket can(£15) and to me it pulls better,breaths better and fooookin sounds better.

my thoughts exactly and if it runs badly i can put the standard bits back on. will an 1150 link fit??Puffin

No I don't think it will... the exhaust headers on the 1150 are completely different. This is why the 1150 has to have a Y piece fitted. Does your bike have a catalytic converter (I guess it will) as that can further complicate matters when looking to change exhausts.

Nice looking bike It seems to have some of the right accessories too, I have a laser exhaust on my bike, its lighter and louder than standard, but perhaps not really better.

lovely bike,as the other people say i dont think there is really any benefit to aftermarket pipes in terms of performance,but if you can find a Remus grand prix at a good price they are lighter,look better and make the bike sound like a bike rather than a food mixer and are louder without annoying the non bike riding public.Once again lovely machine!

I have viewed a few this was by far the nicest, and with only 56k kms thats not even run in yet
Exhaust wise im after something that looks and sounds better without any loss of power

the gs is not a race bike, it wont be any better fitting a louder exhaust, if anything it will be worse.
the fuelling WILL be out of sync, the standard set up is just about perfect.
find someone who can fine tune the fuelling and that will show you a difference
also dont think fitting a k&n or similar does anything either, standard is by far the best option
if your keeping your 1100, keep it as is, it will
look better

good choice,got a remus revolution it just sounds better the link pipe has threaded hole for the lambda thingie if you have a cat fitted nice and simple to work on enjoy it
I have a S/S Remus pipe and mid box. Works ok, sounds better without being loud. Looks better. However, there are more important things to get first.

Too true sqid, actually a decent seat is on the list, and the pillion will probably go
panniers are on the list (but i may make my own) although my throwovers will do for now.
my rails appear to be Givi can anyone confirm this ?
racebike it is not and not intended to be, but different exhaust designs flowing the same amout of gasses have proportionally different caracteristics
sound is one of them
