1100S owners

Do we have many 1100S owners on here?

It was the first bike I wanted but insurance was to high so I've had many years with GS's and only just acquired an 1100S

I'm only 300miles into owning it and still in the honeymoon period but I'm very impressed with the bike which will be 18 years old in Feb.

My everyday ride is a Hexhead GSA which I'm very pleased with. In comparison to this the 1100S seems more precise in the way it goes and steers no doubt helped by its lower weigh.

Mine seems very well sorted with the laser, Y piece and selection of a tuning map that seems to give good fueling through the rev range. It's running stock suspension and I've set it to some settings found here: http://www.sportrider.com/tech/suggested-sport-bike-motorcycle-suspension-settings

Any top tips from other owners

Here's my top tip ....

If you have a really nice R1100s, don't sell it, it'll make you sad

Oh Yes. Learn to ride it. Properly. This is where the bike becomes alive. The brakes are very good given the age of the design.



And get the suspension over to MCT. It does wonders for the handling. Not many shops that will rebuild a Showa OEM.

They are still terrific bikes for real roads, and can surprise at trackdays too.

I'm quite suprised by the pace on A roads, it all seems to come together when you are concentrating and pushing along...

Aside from a few laps of the Nurburgring on my 1150 I've not ridden any tracks, maybe in 2017 that will need to change

Brilliant bike. A mate nearly stuffed hid CBR1000 through a hedge trying to follow me when I was offered a ride on one.

Look bulky, but as a road bike they are fantastically easy to ride an real world fast.
