So my 1150 is at 34,000 miles, had no trouble at all yet apart from a paralever bearing which was replaced a couple of thousand miles ago. At various points, I've replaced the cam chain tensioner, done the external fuel mod, got Ohlins on the back, run a y-piece, got a feckoff Stebel horn, tobinators etc.

I've got a big trip planned for April this year - question is, what things should I check on the bike? Any bearings I should replace for instance? What about the clutch, is it worth getting that looked at? Or should I just pack a few essential spares, give it a good service and go? Thats my preferred option ;-)

Cheers,

Pluck

Yep, a good service and check of things before you leave!

Take a search here - essential spares list for R11xxGS for long travelling are somewhere menitoned many times.

Happy travels!

service and go -

Take a rear bevel bearing and seal with you ( takes up no space, cost very little, and you can always sell it if you don't use it), most places on the road will be able to do the job, so long as you've got the bearing and seal with you. -

I took a clutch slave cylinder, gearlever, fuel filter and alternator belt . Plus a tube of araldite and cotton wool, mix it together and it covers and seals holes in the rocker covers etc - ( i don't have crashbars on my bike, they can cause more major damage than they save )

Thats a great idea - thanks. I don't go in for the scaffolding either ;-)
