1150 ABS Question. Anyone got 5 mins??

Hello All, Still looking for good 1150 with non-servo ABS - this after a couple of wild goose chases.

But..

Can someone please describe what sequence of lights I should see (if alls well), vis the 2 red ABS dash lamps? One bike I've seen: both lamps flashed for several mins after setting off. The other bike: solid (not flashing but on),
again for short time. Both were y2k models.

Lots of info on here as to what goes wrong and what in general to look for etc, but bit confused by 2 bikes doing 2 different things. Both owners said everythings normal..

My 1150 flashed alternate lights which both went off @ 5mph ish.

If they stay on it is more than likely an issue with the battery power, but I wouldn't risk it.

They certainly should not stay on once on the move

Did you leave the short time between ignition on for the ABS test to complete, before operating the brakes?

The different light sequences are meant to show different problems eg one sequence may show a problem with the brake light etc. IIRC I printed off what the different light sequences mean and stuck it under the fuse box lid. If you're really in the cack I could dig it out, but I'm pretty sure it was just a photocopy from the relevant page of the Users Manual.

They would wouldn't they. But as Flipfly says constantly flashing lights isn't right.

He's right you know, you should leave it for a few seconds

both my lights flash until on the move, once the 'clunk' from the ABS cuts in the lights go out.
if i turn the ABS off, one light flashes constantly, to remind me it aint on.



oh mines a 1100 tho,

Thanks all.

Can't quite remember if I touched brakes in boot-up time or not.
There were enough other reasons to exit stage left from 2 so far test ridden.
One was on an Optimate when I turned up (Garage not private owner). Can well believe it had a dodgy battery.

Still, I now know the score vis a vis warning lamps.

all very well discribed in the riders manual if you get to see a copy...about 6 pages so I wont type it all out..
