1150 Adventure alloy box hinges snapped ?

Ever had this happen on your Adv 1150 alloy boxes ? My right hand one snapped both hinges under almost no load and very little pressure ... clean through on both.

Surprised it happened ......... bit worried that this was on a "round the world" bike but there you go.

Later ones have a restraint strap to stop over opening causing hinge disintegration

Just ordered two hinges for mine, 28euros each (Spain)

Gust of wind blew my lid off breaking both hinges. i now have restraining straps fitted to all the luggage.

Thanks guys ............... I'm ordering some restraining straps from my local dealership.

But I am still astonished that they cracked so easily ..... for its purpose I'd have expected more strength and quality... or am I being daft ?

When I had the 1150 GSA mine broke in a gust of wind. I had them replaced under warrenty.
