I have only had my 02 adventure a couple of weeks so still getting used to it but, could do with some advice on the general running:

It is completely standard, pulls like a train from low revs , but has the dreaded 'surge' around the 3000 r/min range, while i believe this is pretty standard i have noticed that if the throttle position is held at almost any speed below the 3 grand mark the engine seems to hold back. If this engine had carbs instead of injection if feels as if the in this condition(light throttle) I guess that it was running weak?
Any thoughts ? advise
A friend of mine in Germany says that you can buy a kit there thata has a different air intake, when fitted takes away the surging, anyone heard of that? its about 100 euros
Steptoe, have you heard of it ?

anyone in the Leicester area with one of thoes electronic TB setting devices ? or know where i can get it done properly

thanks

It may just need the valves and TBs adjusted, but has it got a y and can or is it standard ?. It could be a number of things that's causing bad fueling.

Had exactly the same problem on my 03 GSA ran great for 14000 miles then all went to cock. Ended up with a new Oxy sensor (lambda probe). Prior to this it had a new TPS unit and throttles/tappets etc all done. They improved it but it was`nt till the Oxy senser was changed that it finaly got back to its old self. Check if the sensor was damaged when you swapped over the Y pipe, or even when it was originally fitted. Ther were no faults stored in the bikes memory about faulty sensors ether.
