Ok a quick one for those in the know im sure, i did a search but couldnt find the information im looking for so hopefully this will help someone in the future.

Anyways, what im after finding out is regarding all the electrical relays under the seat.

Im repairing my stolen recovered bike and was wondering why it wouldnt turn over, only to find that all the electrical stuff in the little plastic compartment has been removed... doh...

I can get hold of a full set of relays from an 1150 rt abs model, but mine doesnt have abs, so im wondering what different relays i would require and if i could at least use a few of them in mine.

Cheers guys :bow

diagram of the relays for the 1100 - here - http://www.xmission.com/~wendell/R1100GS/bodyelect.html

If your bike doesnt have abs - then dont fit that particular relay... if you do - it more than likely will do nothing anyway.. apart from look pretty.

I'm guessing there will be other redundant relays included too... depending on the year of the 1150 involved. for instance 'servo brakes'

but.. if you just fit those in the diagram you wont go far wrong (ish)

might cause you far less grief to get an original 1100 set... rather than one from a completely different model.

i would, but i have an 1150 :P cheers anyways though ;)

err... oops (shoulda looked at your profile)

think I best go for a lay down... but in the meantime similar bikes so less of a problem i guess. just leave out the redundant relays.. or as i said fit them (and they'll do nothing but look pretty)

good luck :thumb

You can have a free copy of the bmw workshop manual on a cd in the post all you need is to pm me your address

Thanks bisbee, but i just managed to download one. It has a picture of the relay installation along with a diagram so i reckon i should be able to sort it out. Im gonna get the whole lot and as mentioned they should work ok, just be extra stuff that isnt needed. :)
