DON'T PANIC!
It is most likely to be your gear lever linkages. Easy to fix. Undo all the bits, clean & re-grease :thumb

But make sure....

.... you do it properly otherwise it won't last long!!

Its not the spindle that causes the problem but the bush in the lever arm.

Remove the bush and clean the hole it has come out of.
It corodes and applies light pressure to the bush so tightening it around the spindle.
Oiling the spindle is the quick fix but the above is the permanent one.

Had mine done under warranty last week. Bush gets gunked up and the heat from the Cat dosen't help matters. This has happened on every GS I've owned!

It took the dealer about an hour.

I couldn't do iy myself as the pivot bolt was solid!

Easy and cheap fix though.

WD40 won't cure it, you'll have to strip properly. :thumb

any body a picture of the offending part please is preventative maintenance an option.
