I know there are probably hundreds of posts (and thousands of replies) on this subject, but I am looking for the definitive advice on a low seat for my 2005 model 1150GSA.

I know BMW did a low seat option at the time, but I can find no information on genuine part BMW low seats.

I have seen the Wunderlich and Touratech ones (and the flaming prices! Though I dont expect BMW to be any cheaper)

Can anyone recommend a comfortable lower seat for the Adventure (at a reasonable price?)

Anyone got one they want to dispose of ?

GSA Low seat ...

... from BMW is £177 (inc VAT) according to the invoice that came with my bike. The stock number is shown as 52537659474 but this may relate to BVM Stroud who supplied the seat

ps - I've already sold it, sorry

The lowBMW GSA seat is not particularly comfortable, believe me ,I've got one ....just bought an Airhawk off the site here(thanks Jimbo), and it was worth it ! Fitted it in a couple of minutes, mucked about with the amount of air in it, and took a test run. Felt great, very comfy, and none of the "rolling around" I'd heard one or two people comment on; so, for way less than the cost of a Corbin, Sarjent, Wunderlich etc......

I have both - the original grey/red one and the black low version. Lower one is definitely easier if you're a bit short in the leg region, but it's only good for a couple of hours at most. Why is it low? No bl**dy foam, that's why...

If you're going to be going on a long run, stick with the full version or go with Roger's recommendation.

BMW low seat... and lower back pain...

I also have a BWM low seat (and standard one). With the low seat fitted I find the bike much easier to man-handle, and I'm not exactly short (5'11"). I do find it leaves me with lower back pain after a long ride, though, as it seems to tilt my pelvis where the seat has the ridge between rider and pillion (the standard seat doesn't suffer from this as it's flat). :rob

I also had a R1150GS and when I used an Airhawk that gave me the same problem - again due to the seat + Airhawk tilting my pelvis.

I've yet to try the Airhawk and low seat to see if together they don't create this problem.

If they do, I'll have an Airhawk for sale... but not the low seat, sorry, as I still prefer it to the standing-on-tiptoes alternative!

Keep an eye on ebay - they come up pretty frequently...

I had to get my "Low seat" recovered recently, as it had suffered a gash from previous owner, and when I did I got the guy to flatten-off the ridge in the foam, and I find that a lot better. -I can also position the AirHawk that bit further back than I would otherwise have been able to do, and this might help too with not tilting pelvis forward. I am too old for thrusting pelvises (well , nearly ....):rob:rob:rob:rob

Sounds like a good idea... perhaps a couple of gel pads to replace some of th foam would also help... unless someone has a low seat already made comfortable just lying around their garage waiting for someone to 'donate' it to? :augie

I'll perhaps have a low seat in good condition (1150 GS Adventure - black)and would be looking to swap for a good condition standard seat, is this reasonable?

thanks

Thor

(ps...hope this is'nt breaking any forum rules, but as its not a sale, its maybe ok?)

THANKS FOR THE OFFER................

.............but I am looking at keeping the standard seat in case I grow an extra 3 inches in the next few years (in my legs I mean !!!)

Nah, seriously, I want to keep the standard seat as it it likely to help me sell it when I eventually part company with my 1150 for a 1200 (or whatever it becomes once my bike has done the customary 150,000 miles !!)

Unless you are willing to sell it, which I doubt as it would leave you sitting on the fuse box thanks for the offer Thor:beerjug:

hello there,I only joined this forum a couple of days ago and I'm not the greatest on a computer so I hope this reaches you:
I have just bought my brothers 02 gsa and have a standard seat in black in brand new condition which I'd like to exchange for a low one.
Could you tell me how much lower than the standard yours is - I'm recovering from a spine op and find tip toeing at standstill extremely painful.
Where abouts are you?
regards, alan.
