1150 gs adventure screen spoiler

hi jonnyboxer
right can you confirm that mra screen is fitted using your standard gsa blocks as motorworks are saying the mounting blocks are £66 each and the gs ones are different to the gsa ones, i don,t want to buy a second hand mra screen off ebay and find i need to buy £130 worth of scrren blocks

rob
Ask here for GS screen blocks
Somebody must have a set going spare for less than Motorworks

Don’t bother
The 2 options I have recommended will work better than any spoiler
There are only 2 definitive corrections to 1150 GSA Screen woes and those are the solutions that I have advised
You can waste money on spoilers & go around in circles and then still be disappointed
Up to you ?
I have been riding 1150’s since 2000, so 24 years and 1150 GSA since 2005 and still have them
Zoom in on this pic and see the MRA screen on my 2005 bike

Love the MRA screen on mine

can i ask what the 1150 gs fitting are that i need for the mra screen

rob
You need all of the standard GS screen mount parts - none of the GSA parts are common to the GS. So for both sides you need the inner mount (that attaches to the instrument support, then the two halves of the mount that attach to the screen itself (inner plus the outer 'cap') plus the three screws. 3 plastic parts and 3 screws per side. They're not cheap but I reverted from a GSA screen on Tobinators to an MRA earlier this year - definitely the way to go IMO.

I don't have the part numbers to hand but referring to the above check RealOEM for the numbers. You can get them all from Motorworks.

EDIT - I think there are additionally two small screws per side that attach the two halves of the outer mount to the screen.

i see on motorworks the 3 plastic parts for the gs screen, you say you only need 3 screws each side, but the 2 plastic parts that fit on the screen
are held on by 4 small screws isn,t it as theres 4 small holes, so isn,t each side 4 small screws to hold the 2 pieces to the screen then 2 longer bolts to fit it to the bike so 6 each side

It’s one part that’s fixed to the light instrument plastic housing. That’s the plastic piece with the ratchet type adjustment end.(pic1)
That’s fixed with 1 screw.
The other two parts sandwich the screen and are held at the front with a long screw which is a star head fixed and at the back with a screw which has a large wheel type of head. With that you can loosen it by hand and adjust and then fix the screen in the desired position.(pic2)
So it’s 3 screws either side , hope that helps.
Best combo for the GSA is the normal GS screen fixtures and a GIVI screen, absolutely superb.

If you re-read my post (that you've quoted) you'll see my edit at the end that you need the small screws too. I thought there were 2 per side - OK, there are 4. Which makes it 7 per side - 4 small ones and three 6mm ones of varying length. It's all on the online parts diagrams - a more reliable source than my memory.

Apols to the OP – this is off-topic but what risers are you using on your bars, Paul?
I’m afraid I can’t remember, but probably an aliexpress purchase some time in the past. The bars are from a Rockster - slightly flatter/straighter and more comfortable for my wrists, but they needed a bit of height and reach adjustment.

This is my setup.

Adventure Screen
Torbinators
MRA X-Creen spoiler.

The trick with the X-Creen spoiler is to have it as close to the Adventure screen as possible. It then squeezes the airflow coming off the top of the screen so there is very little turbulence. It’s all to do with laminar flow.

I’m 6’ 2” , have my seat on the highest position and can happily say that for me this set up works well, at all speeds.

I have exactly the same setup on my 1200GS Adventure and have “rung the neck” out of that setup on a German unrestricted Autobahn. With very little buffeting. :D

Cheers
Ian

I think the kit comes with some clamps that fit over the top of the Adventure screen if you don’t want to drill holes. Or, if they arn't included in the kit they are available as an optional extra. I have a set lying around somewhere not used. I prefer drilling the holes, I think there is a template included so you can position everything accurately. The holes (2 per clamp) are quite small, about 4 or 5 millimetres if my memory serves me correctly. So if you choose to remove the spoiler, the holes are hardly noticeable.

Have a look on the MRA website, it should provide you with all the information needed.

I don’t know, sorry. I did buy it a long time ago when they first became available, I don’t recall them having different styles at the time.

PS having just looked on their website, I definitely have the touring version.

top man thank you

Fwiw, I recently treated my GSA to the MRA Vario screen. Looks better in my opinion, there's less wobble and bags of adjustability. Love it.

Motorworks were very helpful in supplying the standard GS fittings too. Total cost was £217.70.
