Hi there

Does anyone tryed to set a R1150GS beak onto a r1100 GS???
I'd like to hear some experiences before trying to do so!

cheers

It is probably possible although you need to think about a few complications like:

The lights, clocks etc on the 1150 is all fitted in a plastic housing so you would need to change those or make fit adapters for you 1100 goodies. It won't be a straight swop.

There is of course the question about the tank/beak arrangement whether it will fit. I think Rob Farmer have given this a go before and could give some more info.

somebody in Euroland has made a 'conversion kit' ie a special 1150 beak shaped to fit standard 1100 screen/clocks gubbins. Again, a search should find the thread. It was a good 6 months ago.

If you have a close look at your 1100 and an 1150 side by side, you will see that the internal brackets are completely different, the indicators are in different positions and the relationship to the light/oilcooler/screen/clocks is diferent.

Howzabout this then......

This beak is designed and produced by B-art, a Dutch motorcycle designer. He has his own his own website and it seems he takes international orders.
In my opinion it's about the best thing that can happen to an R1100GS. It's going to happen to my bike pretty soon.

It's pure a matter of taste. Some (many?) people think think the beak of an R1150GS looks much better than that of an R1100GS (I do). Better proportioned.

Technically it just just a waste of money, there's nothing wrong with the R1100GS...

you've just made your mind up, with that one comment, if not yours mine.:D

Seriously speaking the only problem with the beak on the eleven is when your moving through traffice and take a sharp walking speed turn. You can't see the beak and its easy to knock it against cars...
