I have just gone to head for a run out but was stopped in my tracks by a lack of ABS. Normally the warning lamp flashes slowly until I pull off then extinguishes after a couple of feet. (all systems good) However tonight as soon as I turn on the ignition the lamp flashes 10 to the dozen and the relay can be heard going "mental". I have checked the sensors and all seems fine. Thread searches have brought up various faults but not one similar to mine.

Suggestions please?

I have a feeling it is either low battery or it could be the relay...but without having one to try in it's place I can't be sure, and I haven't got a circuit tester.

Look in the hand book, or stuck on the mudguard under the seat.

A sticker which identifies the different flashing warning sequences, and what is causing it.

Try pushing the front brake lever forward and see if it stops flashing

A Stuck brake switch will not allow the self check to complete and keep the lights flashing

Ok. I have dug out my hand book and it is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. i.e. it tells me nothing I didn't already know.

General Warning Lamp: OFF
ABS Warning Lamp: Flashes at 4 Hz

Malfunctions: Only RESIDUAL BRAKING FUNCTION available in both circuits (-->83) well I knew that
Self-diagnosis not completed (-->84) And I could've told you that:(

Jaythro... Thanks, I have confirmed that neither the front or rear brake levers are applied. The feckin thing was working fine 5 mins earlier.:(

Sussed it...And how feckin simple was that:o

Having narrowed it down to a faulty switch (as opposed to my initial SWAG) it was "elementary my dear Watson"...

Behind the foot peg on the rear brake lever is a small adjusting/stop screw which makes contact with the brake switch via a sprung loaded "plate". Somehow the plate had worked it's way over the screw and was resting against the thread. The "plate" is only 1 or 2 mm thick but in the wrong position fails to make the contact which in turn prevents the ABS system check being completed, resulting in no servo assistance :( I can live without ABS but no assistance is a bit of a shock initially.
