1150 GSA - adjusting Xenon beam pattern

Well, this may be an extraordinarily stupid question but I haven't found any answers to it anywhere (yet).

My 04 GSA has the factory Xenon dipped beam headlight which has the very well defined 'cut-off'. I vaguely seem to remember that a lot of cars with Xenon HID lights allow you to 'flick' the beam shaped for driving on the wrong/right side of the road.

Does anybody know if the GSA headlight has the same feature or do I need to reshape the beam using the old high-tech standby of black electrical tape?

Thanks,
T.

Don't know about xenon but my 03GSA with standard headlamps can be adjusted for driving on the continent by rotating something inside the housing. I'd have thought it would still be the same on your bike. Have you checked whether the manual mentions it?

Both screens have to come off. Easy job...........note that I could'nt do it myself first time. I undid the necessary cap head or heads? light unit was stiff to rotate. Aim to get the light pattern as a 'V', I.e. the light is the same level each side. The standard adjustment was crap. lit up nearside Motorway sighns when I was in outside lane.

I had another look after reading your post and actually managed to find the approriate instructions in the maintenance booklet after some digging around.

Basically you have to take off the screen and instrument/headlight cover to get at the beam shaper, loosen the clamp and reset the position.

Seems easy enough, I'll be disappearing into the garage shortly.

Managed to adjust the beam. So far so good, of course the headlamp was stuck but freed off eventually.

More worrying to me was the fact that the clamp bolt had gone AWOL and I didn't have anything that fit. Oh well, cable tie to the rescue...
