Hi Guys

Just about to buy 2002 R1150 GSA

Price £4400.00

1 owner from new

38000 Miles , full SH from Rainbow , System Panniers

Excellent condition

It does not have ABS though , do you think its better to have it or not have it , reading some threads , the servo type is prone to probs , the other is fine,

What are non ABS bikes like to ride compared to ABS bikes , had a 1200 gsa and thought the abs was ok, not sure if id miss not having it.

Benefits i see of non ABS , cost , simplicity and service cost reduction

Non Benefits , lock ups and crashes ;)

Any comments on bike price and value, use

Both my 1150GSA's don't have ABS and I'm fine with it, never give it a second thought

The pre & post Servo ABS is ok, but it's not a deal braker

Sometimes, you can stop quicker without ABS and you'll be thankful for that:thumb

If you like the bike - buy it

Cheers Johnny

What do u reckon on price , bout right

Its been well looked after , no corrosion , full sh

I'll be in there tomorrow and have a look for you

If it's in good nick, one owner and full SH by Rainbow - it'll be ok

Price - there or thereabouts for a main BMW dealer - they're now becoming 'in demand'

Not at rainbow :) , but checked with them the SH , bought from them new , last service at 34198, 1 owner all good, 24 service records in total

Private sale , maybe get down to 4150-4200

Hi Pnewman

I've got a 2002 GS without ABS. Only ever had one bike with it and never trusted that it would work properly!! So don't really miss it and good riding skills should mean that you don't need it.

Check for corosion - black crank case ones are the best for resisting that. If it has full SH and looks like its been cared for it is probably a good 'un. Is that a dealer's price?

see above :)

Its got the black crank case and front engine cover , alternator etc

Price sounds a little expensive to me - get them down a bit. What do they go for on this forum? GSAs worth more than GS. When you've bought it - post a pic!

with a 9 yr old bike price would be very dependant on condition and its very hard to say without seeing the bike but it sounds £500 too expensive to me.
Re ABS you may only need it once but that might be the time it saves your life :rob

And it might fail coming down the stevilio pass, like mine did :eek
Riding a bike is a tad dangerous ABS or no ABS.
