One of the foot pegs on my GSA has a seized ball bearing. I can’t free it, so think I need to replacement. Anyone got a part number for it, or point me in the direction for a source (none at Motorworks)? It’s the thin one that come with the BMW Aluminium panniers…

You mean these ones….I assume you talking passenger footpegs!
Can’t you take the bolt out and clean and refurb??

Mine were stuck as well because they never get used or cleaned, I took them off and with a socked behind it just drifted the pin through. It will need a good battering if yours are like mine and the paint will need touching up where the socket was resting. Also don’t drop the ball out as it can easily happen like I did and lost it but they are cheap enough to replace, a lot cheaper than new pegs.

@L IF you wrap the Rubber Footpad with a plastic sandwich bag and tape the end up tight so NO penetrant can get to the Rubber and FUBAR it I think they are bonded rather than the bump inserts

Pour Boiling water over it and wiggle it back and forward to start the ball rolling

Scoosh your preferred Lubricant on to the ball area and work it back and forward ( O M G that sounds so bad!! ) N.B. You may also want to cover the tyre with a plastic bag in case you scoosh too much!! (Feck it ain't getting any better is it?? The Double entendre like comments I mean, not the footrest, it should be well good now!!)

My preferred is Fuchs Silkopen It's a high graphite penetrant / lubricant (Any graphite rich one would do Personally I would avoid WD40 it and rubber do not get on!! Plus it dries out )

Boiling water and Scoosh it and work it back and forward !

Robert would be your Fathers Brother!

success... I think! Took the peg off altogether. removed the rubber. Sonic cleaned the part. Soaked in WD40 overnight. Poured hot water over the offending part and a few taps of the hammer and the ball bearing is out. Back in the WD40 and a blast through the sonic cleaner again... does the bearing just slot back into its hole? Do I need to grease it first?

Definitely greasing…like a graphite one as Dr F suggested….
BTW ..I use mine regularly as I sit with my feet on the back rests on long journeys, so they get used …

I consider this part a service item when I service a customers bike.
I’ve saved plenty on the point of seizing ..
