Generally when its cold (the bike not the weather) my bike has developed a starting problem although its not always when its cold. It will turn over fine but just wont fire. Its all very intermittent. Sometimes if I turn it over a couple of times then leave it, the next time I try it fires. Sometimes it takes ages. Sometimes it fires immediately but never when cold. Italways fires eventually but I hate it not being as reliable as it always was.
When going its running fine. Ive had it serviced recently and no problems came up. The mechanic I went to doesn't know what to do. I put a new Odessy battery in which has made no difference.
Can any one give me some advise as to what to do next.

As Uncle Crumpet says, I'd go for ignition issues.
Can get pricey experimentally swapping stuff though - might be worth taking to a BMW specialist who will have bits to swap and narrow down on the problem.

Given your location in that there Lundun Neil at http://www.gsshop.biz/ (Steptoe on here) springs immediately to mind.

How about starting with some cheap serviceable. Spark plugs in particular.

Could be the coils, seems quit a common issue.

Does it run well once started? Any extra vibration?

Sounds like something I had earlier in the year.

Is there a spark / injection signal at the plugs. My starter motor went the way of the dodo and was drawing too much power on turnover to let the motronic fire the spark plugs :)

Happeneed most when it was cold. However if there is no spark / injection signal then it could also be the hall sensor.

See Steppers he'll sort it out just like that no prob.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Not being at all mechanical myself I reckon Steptoe is my man. I will get myself down there as soon as I get a mo. Cheers
