I have a GSA 1150 2004 25000 miles.

The bike runs great and 5000 of the 25k have been done by me. Ever since I got the bike I have always been a litle unhappy with the suspension on the bike.

It works fine but can only describe it as "notchy"? Im all for feedback through the tyres etc but on uneven bumpy tarmac I often feel like something is loose on the shocks......nothing is as Ive had them checked.

Is it just as basic as the shocks are not particularly well built? Its quite hard to describe but smooth it isnt.

Any comments, anyone experienced similar with their standard shocks?

When my front standard shock failed the front end sort of skittered over small bumps and catseyes, it didnt feel that bad but when I got hold of a newer shock the front feels much more planted, I think the Telelever system masks many of the effects of a tired shock.

Its been a while since I owned a 1150GSA (sold it in 2003) I bought it new and within 5k miles the rear shock was goosed, replaced under warrenty but the bike still felt loose, replaced both with ohlins and the difference in damping quality/control was amazing. One down side of the ohlins back then was the supplied rear spring was a little soft for my tastes .
So yes stock suspension on these isnt the best by a long way.
