Is the front headlamp cluster, screen, crud catcher etc, from the 1150GS back compatible with the 1100GS? Its just the sort thing one might find in a scrappy and wondered whether it would be a good purchase to get the double headlamp?

If you want the worst headlamps you've ever ridden with, it's a project to pursue...

Mike :D

head lights

You have obviously never ridden an 1150 in the dark!, the lights are CRAP!!
which is why there are so many people swapping to HID's. Do the same with your 1100 and you'll be amazed.

Oh dear......

Yes, this was one of the options, you are probably right.

I'm on shifts so I quite often ride in the dark either first thing in the morning or last thing at night. I'm putting driving lamps on the crash bars (been looking at the auxiliary power threads :thumb2), but also I'm getting a lot of wind noise off the screen.
Obviously someone like me wouldn't take advantage of the open road and go above 50 mph!
The next question is - are the spoilers which sit on top of the windscreen any good?
After a short while my bike is going to become a Christmas tree!

The lamp bracket which I believe is attached to the oil cooler fixings, where do I get one?
Please seen borrow pic below

Brilliant, looking at this on my phone so will check it shortly properly. Have your moreo pics?

Sure the unit is basically fabricated to replace the headlamp unit. The old headlamp bowl is left in place (in case I needed to do a quick swap back for the MOT, which I didn't)

Very impressive. Thank you. I will follow your lead here. There's one on eBay at the mo.. I won't bother south the extra relay, it should be ok.
My first two projects are this and a cantech fuse board for accessories. Pictures soon

Use an old cornflakes box to make the templates, cut a bit, stick a bit back...

:D

I should also add that the ZXR400 uses an odd version of the H4 bulb (h4r?), you can get cheap adapters for normal H4 bulbs or you can just cut the lower tabs of normal H4 bulbs and fit them with a bit of welding rod across the lower two tab holes. But I guess if you can get as far as making the lamp unit, then getting bulbs to fit won't present any issues.

Good luck, I'm looking forward to the pictures.
