Hi guys. Posting this on the off-chance that someone here has had something similar and can offer advice.
Bit of background.... bike is a 58 plate 1200GS with just under 24k miles. Last December I was moving from west London to north Devon and although it wasn't quite due I got Steptoe to give it the 24k service a couple of weeks before the move. The week before the move I had it cleaned by All Year Biker, and put it in the garage on a trickle charger. The day of the move I went to start it and the instrument cluster was dead - no display on the LCD unit, but the bike started OK (and continues to start fine). With the bike running the rev counter was not responding so it looks like the whole unit is dead. TBH I expected it would be something to do with the clean by All Year Biker (pressure washer) and wasn't worried about it. The move went ahead, bike moved down with me and has sat in the garage here ever since. I haven't been in a rush to get it sorted until now because the weather has been so bad, but last week I booked it in to James Sherlock in South Molton.
Sherlocks picked the bike up yesterday and today I've spoken to them. They can't find what's wrong - checked the wiring etc and all seems ok, but no power. As a result they are saying it needs to go to a main agent, which is an issue for me because (a) they're expensive, and (b) the nearest Motorad to me is in Plymouth, which is about 70 miles away. I'm worried this sounds very expensive!
So I thought I'd post this here in the vague hope that someone out there might be able to shed some light on this. The bike is staying at Sherlocks until I decide what to do, so if anyone knows anything please post on here. many thanks

. That leads us to believe that it's not the cluster that's at fault, but that's as far as they can take it. I suppose that is good news in a way, but I'm still fearing the worst.
