GS 1250 TE Speedometer Instrument Cluster

Hi Folks, I have an GS 1250 TE and today just noticed looking at the right hand side of the speedometer instrument cluster, something has hit the unit !! and

from the strike it has a crack appeared from right to left straight across the screen !!!

Is it possible to have the glass screen replaced ? or is it a complete new unit ?

I would imagine a new unit?

Others will probably have a better idea

And probable that it would have to be coded to the bike?

Pretty sure there's a thread on the US site where some bloke sent his unit to the EU and had the glass replaced.

Pretty sure you can get new screens on AliExpress fairly cheap. Can’t vouch for the quality but might be an option if you don’t mind a diy fix

Hi Spooky, purchased the new screen off ali express, placed it ontop of the bike screen, non of the warning lights shine through & new screen is not transparent ie cloudy ....

So worth a try ! but I will have to source another method to repair it ...

Might depend which seller you buy from as there are loads. You can buy the whole lcd part with front glass etc already in situ on there as well.

Hi Autogs,, Yes checked the the glass, no protective film ! was no good any way as I put it down on the deck then it proceeded to split in two lol so that was the end of that .... Regards Mack..

I’ve never needed one personally. just saw them on Alliexpress whilst sourcing a car play device. I can link you to one but i have no insight into its quality.

Hi Spooky, talking to BMW they tell me that the replacement tft screen has to be coded to the bike, so more trouble there..

Thanks for your input, as i said earlier the screen I got from Ali Express was blacked out in certain areas of the glass, so not all of the warning lights would shine through !! And as you said there are hundreds of screens from different source's ...
So I have gone down the local dealers route to have it replaced and coded for the eye watering sum of 1500 notes ...
