Right folks, my bike is leaking oil from the area where the cam chain goes into the head on the RH side.

The history is that I spat the bike down the road a while back, and it ended up sliding down the road on the RH side.

So, to the question: What's the best way of fixing the leak?

Is it worth re-torquing the head bolts and hoping for the best, or have I got a bigger job on my hands?

On the other hand, should I just pretend that it's an old Brit bike and keep topping the oil up, because the performance doesn't seem to be affected :D

Cheers :beerjug:

Gasket change. Steptoe did a sticky write-up in this technical forum at the top. Also seems to be missing a bolt where the leak is right hand side.

Thats where the plastic protector bolts into on a single spark. That bike is a twin spark ( see the lower plug cap) and they mount in a different place, so that hole is unused .

Try torquing the head down and see what happens.

Cheers Neil,

Like Snoopy said, I did wonder if the spare hole had anything to do with the problem, but I checked on the other side and found a matching hole, but no oil leak. So thanks for clarifying why I've got a couple of spare bolt holes, too. :D

I'll try re-torquing the head bolts, and we'll see how she fares :thumb:

Thanks for the assistance guys, have a good New Year

John
