Does anyone know what the power to weight KiloWatt ratio is on the 1150GS?

I know the KW is 65.2 (Or is it 62.5) and horse power is 95 but this is not the exact answer when it takes the weight into account.

The reason I am asking is because of licence issues!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Rob

You can't ride the 1150 on a uk A1 licence.

You can an 650 single though if its restricted.

It's the same here in Ireland and I would imagine right accross the EU.
Also when you pass your test you are restricted to driving bikes with an output power of up to 33KW and AFAIK the GS is not much more than that given its very heavy weight.
The only thing I can find in the manual is 62.5 KW at 6750RPM but that would be the power of the engine sitting in a block in a BMW factory:nenau., it would not be the power of the engine on the bike?????

stick some 850 stickers on it then, they never figured my 125 was a 200 all those years back:augie

I am not certain on this but think that in the UK it is a restriction on the power itself and unrelated to the weight.

i dunno, it didnt used to be but they change it all that fast , i lost track of it all:blast

Thats correct.. 33bhp. (25Kw) And the main reason the 850cc varients were developed. the restrictor kit from Fi International costs a wacking £172.99 ( €190.30 )

Yer man chop from biker.ie in trim can do it for a lot less than €400. Certified and recognised by all the major insurance companies

Engine power of 62.5kw (84bhp, 85PS) sounds about right. That will probably be a calculated figure at the crank; the power at the rear wheel (i.e. as measured on a dyno) would be a few percent less. Power to weight would be an odd figure to use as it would need to take into account rider weight to be meaningful.

35kw/ kilo would be a miracle on the scale of the Feeding of the 5,000 but would at least explain those glowing headers :)

So given the weight of the 1150, it puts out 35KW power to weight ratio.

Hardly worth paying 400 yoyos to get it restricted to 33KW.

You're confusing power (kW) and power to weight kW/kg. 33kW is engine power, irrespective of the weight of the vehicle it's fitted to.

Is your licence restriction in outright power (in which case a 62kW 1150 will not satisfy your 33kW requirement) or in power to weight? And if the latter, what is the allowable power to weight because all you've quoted is power?
