1150 to 800

I went from 1200 to 800 at the weekend and certainly did. lucky I was able to hand it back at the end of the day when mine was services. Nothing against the 800, its a good bike with a nice engine but it isnt a 1200. Course personal opinions always differ thats why they are personal. I know its not an 1150 but having driven 1150's they are a lot more similar than the 800 is.

I will get my coat now because I have probably upset someone :hide

Ha ha! Not all of us are as grumpy as allot of the 800gs riders seem to be!:)

I better hide now!

Best way to find out is just take one for a ride! Most dealers will let you take them out for a couple of hours now, evan if your not intending to buy from them (don't tell them that)

I have the 650gs great bike, I tried 1150gs, 800gs, 1200gs before I brought mine! You'll know once you've put a few miles on one!:)

hi i went from an 1150 adv after a few years including european touring.
but i did find the big adventure an issue when parking up fully loaded and did have to catch it once in corsica as the side stand was pushing through the tarmac it was so heavy, the other lads and their bikes didn't have the same effect or worries.

i did the swap before the release date so not even a test ride !!!!!
looked at the weight and power, the other data and the pics and thought why not.

but i have to say that i am very happy with the change. i have still done european touring etc and the 800 is great. the ONLY thing that i miss is the fuel range, but i was spoilt by the adventure's massive tank.and now i find i fill up with the others anyway.

the economy of the 800 is good and i like the performance. you can cruise sensibly 2 up and you can ring its neck and thrash it.

but you need to try before you buy and have good long runs as tests.

enjoy finding out which suits you and just get out there on something and enjoy biking

Go for it ,bought 800 in April still got the 1150 but not used it once (under pressure to sell but still hanging on ,not sure why).Ths seat is awfull had it re done by Tony Archer in Huddersfield, and changed the screen, just done 2000 miles Pyrennes no probs, amazing fuel economy averaging 61 at present. If you carry pillion alot its not that good though, bit small.Go for test ride nice and long.Enjoy.

I will be riding on my own fancied something more modern and lighter
I have test road one when they 1st can out prefered 1200 though :augie
Also fancy a new tiger 1050 :hide

I went from 1200 ADV 09 to 800GS 10. Not looked back at all. Each bike has it's own character, but the 800 still feels like a GS in action. Get a good test ride but ignore the seat - you will need to change that as it is shite. I changed to the comfort seat, put a high screen on and a few other bits. Nice.:)

I went from an 1150 to an 800GS just before Christmas and haven't regretted it once. I suspect it all depends on what sort of riding you do though; I ride approx 60 miles each day along mixed A and B roads. I do quite a few motorway miles as well, and the bike is fine for it, but if I was primarily riding on motorways or dual carriageways, I'd get something a bit bigger which had more power in reserve at the higher speeds. The extra flickability of the 800 won it for me though, and it still makes me smile when riding far more than the 1150 ever did.

No problems with seat comfort, though for some reason the one I bought (new) was noticeably more comfortable than that on the demo bike.

I've been looking at changing my 1200 GSA for the 800 GS, it just looks more fun,the 1200 is great but too easy to use, i think touring on the 800 would give you a better feeling of adventure,no final drive either:augie

i want a 800 as twalcom dont do bling for my 1150
and as for the new ohlins forks :drool
