Hello,

I wanted to get a gs for a while, but only now have the opportunity (pounds) to do so. I plan to do a bit off-road (forest tracks/fire trail types) but to get there obviously h/way roads etc and not sure if i should purchase a 1150 gs or adventure (can't afford the 1200).

I will have a pillion most of the time with me, and reading the posts, the 1150 is a better choice (with perhaps decent dual tyres). Any suggestions?

Standard 1150.

Your pillion probably wouldn't thank you if you went for the ADV with it's one-piece seat. The ADV 's got a little more ground clearance, a lower first gear, and usually a bigger tank, but that's the only difference.

ADV

Go for the ADV if your are over 5ft 10'' because of above stated "Lower first gear, one seat, etc six gears and it will not JUMP out of 6th gear at 70 mph !!!!" also has whitepower shocks
much better for off-road

Is this bike you are talking about a second hand modified as neither OEM parts on either bikes are White Power.
