1150GS +17" front mudguard

Hello all,

Apart from TT and Boxer Designs, do you know anyone else that supplies a 17" front mudguard to fit my 03 1150GS (with alloys) please?

I've done Google searches and drawing blanks!

These guys used to do a Glass Fibre one...

I can't find it in their catalogue, it's a PITA to navigate..

Check out the latest Wunderlich catalogue online - English version available. That's where I got mine from a couple of years ago. I think it is better looking than the TT version. I don't think I saw the Boxer Design one at the time.

The photo above is of a Fallert GS conversion - I saw it some years ago (the photo, not the real thing). If you Google Fallert you may find it.

I fired off an email to Wudo re their Mudguard.

They replied saying it's still available but that they are closed for the next 2/3 weeks.

They'll get back to me once they're open again.

I did email them, but the reply back was in very broken English.
Granted it's better than my German, but I still didn't understand.

They said something along the lines of using the front muguard off an R1200 RS I think, but I've deleted the email now.

Hi, my bike is a German 'parallel import' and has 17" wheels and front mudguard from an 1100S (I think). Personally I think it looks a lot better than any you can buy, and wouldn't be too difficult to make.Hope this helps!

Hi Bullfrog, here are some photos of the mudguard for you. As I said, I 'think' it is from an 1100S, but not sure as I have never directly compared them.The shop I bought the bike from didn't know either. Anyway hope this helps!

I also have an 1150GS with the same alloys fitted by previous owner. Bike was fitted with 020's which now need replacement. What have you tried and do you have a recommendation. Tried to see from the photo which make you are using. At the moment struggling to decide between: Metzler MEZ 4's (£145 delivered from James Sherlock), Metzler Roiadtec Z6, Continental Road Attack
Any advice would be appreciated

I have used Z6's and they were very good, especially in the wet.

I'm on a set of the new Michelin Pilot-road '2's, .....so far, so good too...

To be honest, there are very few 'BAD' tyres these days...

Hi Grey Haired Wombat,
I like Bridgestones myself. I first had BT-020's and now BT-021's, and find them very good. They are marketed as a Sport/Touring tyre and offer very good grip, which is what I'm looking for, but probably don't last as long as some others. In fact the rear lasted longer than the front which is a bit weird. I haven't tried any other makes,but to be honest they're all pretty good these days, and a lot of people have their favourite make or just base their decision on price. Thats the good thing about the alloy wheels, you get a lot more choice and much better grip than the standard trail tyres.

Seems the options are either expensive carbon jobbies (or Boxer Designs do a fibreglass one for about 100 euros), an 1100r one or chopping down a stock one?

You could probably make it fit, but they look awful in anything but black. You will probably also need the R1100R/R1150R fork bridge as well, but I believe this has the added benefit of dropping the front an extra cm or two.

Boxer Design just got back to me about their fibreglass one - 139 euros including delivery... what's that... £115, £118?

Still a lot for a bit of fibreglass... hmm...

But then Touratech is nearly 190 euros...

I've been on the lookout for the 4 parts of a R1100/1150RS front guard.

I'm sure I've seen an early 1100GS on here with them, but i can't find it.

But to be honest they can add up to similar money anyway, so unless you can find them in the right colour.....
