I just fitted a Shido lithium battery to my 1150GS and got nearly a 5kg weight saving. The lead acid battery was 6.3kg and the Shido was 1.5kg

It wasn't cheap, but not actually a huge amount more than a high-end lead acid battery. Anyway I'll take that............Every little helps with the pig iron old girl :)

It's a complete ABS delete next as it's given up the ghost. I hear that saves around 4-5kg with the pump and everything else gone.

I know in the real world it doesn't make much difference but if, along with the y-piece/exhaust silencer and a few other bits like the above, I've shaved 15-20kg off the fat old pig, I'll be happy in my own mind.

Looking forward to being chastised by the lithium luddites and other highly qualified cynics.............;)

Never heard about burning Tesla, burning Samsung, the world championship E-bike hangar burned down twice, renting e-bikes shops around the world burned too. All because of lithium batteries. Now you know.

The only reason i haven't moved to a lithium battery is I don't want to have have to fork out for another expensive charger maintainer. Probably will move at some point, since my jump starter kit is lithium based and it starts my 3.0L v6 and it fits in the palm of my hand!
