Which company makes the best Oil Cooler Cover for a 1150GS?

Had a good one from Mark Hooton for the 1100GS, but doesn't do similar foe the 1150GS:tears

So who does what and which company do you rate best

Touratech.

Go on.

You know you want to give them your money.

Home made. Cost about £8 for a big sheet of the stuff and cut it down!:D Could make about 5 out of 1 sheet.

mine is home made

Made this from stainless mesh bought on ebay. I think they look better than the namby pamby ones you can buy with GS 1150 or whatever cut out of them. These, no nonesense mesh ones provide better protection, as there are no big holes which is the point of a cooler guard.

scuse the soppy iphone pic:D

Had one.........................binned it

Like a fecking cheesegrater, when you cleaned the fecking bike:mad:
Saves carrying a cheese grater when camping..........

I think this is everything... so here's what I pack and where it lives because everything has a home and I know exactly where to put my hands on something when I need it.

Tank bag (Wolfman Rainer)
Main compartment
• First aid kit including a cyalume
• Small WC bag (bog roll, wet wipes, small shovel, hand sanitizer… you get the picture)
• Documents (passport, V5, insurance, breakdown cover… etc)
• Write in the rain notepad & pens
Map pocket
• Maps... not surprisingly, LOL.
Front pouch
• Wallet
• Mossie head net
EDC (Every Day Carry) Emergency items on a locking black karabiner

Right Pouch
• Multi-tool
• Head torch
Left Pouch
• Spare ear plugs
• Mossie spray
• Pipe & Tobacco
Back Pouch (handlebar)
• IPhone
• Ipod

Panniers (Touratech Zega Pro 38L)
Right side
• Tent & poles Vango Tempest 200

tempest%20200%20pine.jpg

vango-tempest-200-floorplan-big.jpg

Big enough for one with a modest porch for stowing gear, it also packs very small and its discrete colour and low profile makes it ideal for stealth camping.

• Tent Pegs
• Basha

IMG_0389.jpg

Great for extra shelter from a blazing sun or torrential rain so that you can get on with personal admin. It's also great for hiding your bike from view when stealth camping. I have snake skins on mine, which make striking and breaking camp a doddle

• Ground sheet footprint
• Exped 7DLX sleep matt (simply the best matt available)
• Sleeping bag
• Netbook & electricals (chargers, plugs and adaptors – inside the Touratech lid bag)
• MOD Survival Knife

knife_survival_l.jpg

My preference over the axe when it comes to chopping or splitting wood for the fire

Left side
• Optimus Nova+ stove

optimusnova_300004_2-300x300.jpg

Expensive but excellent and packs very small!

• Optimus terra cookset & kettle (with Ti Spork & Microbites utensils)

<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7r4wxeHKheY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

• Meal kit, brew kit & rations
• FSM flag (for bike meets on busy campsites)

images

A beacon of reason and a helpful marker for finding my way back to my tent when I'm pissed!

• Grilliput & fire bowl with fire kit

Grilliput-Camping-Set.jpg

I prefer an open fire but these are great when you want a BBQ but there is no fire pit on the campsite - it packs into a tube FFS

• Spare bike parts & bike sundries (if required)
• Spare front & rear HD tubes & tyre compressor (inside the Touratech lid bag)

Pannier Accessories (strapped to outside)
Left
• 1L Nalgene bottle & GSI Mug
• 1L Optimus fuel bottle for the stove
• 2L Nalgene water bag (in a Kriega US-10 strapped to the top)
Right
• 2L Jerrycan (strapped to outside)
• 2L Nalgene water bag (in a Kriega US-10 strapped to the top)

That leaves plenty of room in the Kriegas for BBQ & Beers! :jager

Tail Pack (Oxford)
Main Compartment
• Security chain & disc lock

<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ozppzywsLsk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Heavy but no fecker is cutting through this! Unlike some other well known brands that are bolt cropped in seconds!

• Bike cover
• Waterproof trousers & jacket
• 2 x spare Rok straps
• Clear visor
• Chain lube
Lid
• Power pack for charging AA batteries on the move
Back pocket
• Rain covers for tank & tail bags

Across the seat
• Camping chair & basha poles
Duffel Bag (Overboard 60L)
• Wash kit
• Clothes: boxers x 3, socks x 3, T-shirts x 3, zip-off cargo trousers x 1, fleece top x1, baseball cap
• Cold weather pack (woolly hat, woolly gloves and a shemagh)
• Sandals

On my person
• Spare key around my neck
• 2L Platypus Hydration bladder back pack with spare 2L platypus bag (in the front pocket is an Aquamirra water filter, chlorine dioxide tablets and a cyalume)
• Interphone F4 & Vio POV camera mounted on the helmet

images

images

• Small digital camera (in my top pocket).
• Dummy wallet (expired bank & credit drivers, expired drivers license, old receipts, and small change…)

On the Bike
Under the seat
• Spare keys for ignition, panniers, tool box, chain & disc lock
• Owners manual with emergency credit card & £20 note
• 12v power socket
• Stop ‘N’ Go tubeless tyre repair kit, including 2x CO2 cartridges
Handle bars
• Zumo 660 (wired into can-bus)
• Vio POV camera remote
Tool box (Touratech box mounted BMW enduro bash plate)
• Tool kit
• Bits & pieces kit: zip ties, gaffer tape, wire… etc
• Cyalume
John Dere tool tube (mounted behind right pannier)
• Tyre irons & puncture kit, including a small hand pump
• Cargo strap
• Cyalume

images

I have three of these strategically located for when I need them in the first aid kit, tool kit & puncture kit.

This is my extended stay set-up. If I'm only away for a few days I will alter what I take. For example, I might dump the Optimus multi-fuel stove and cookset and take the Optimus Crux Lite and Solo cookset instead. I might dump all the camping gear if I'm staying in hostels... but I usually stealth camp and stop in a hostel now and then to rest, re-couperated and clean up proper. I may not take the netbook if its a short trip or I may not bother with the security chain. The chain weighs a lot but If I'm leaving it outside a hostel in a dodgy part of town without secure parking I want every possible bit of security I can get... and that means Almax chain, disc lock and bike cover!

Hope this helps? It seems like a lot but when it's all packed up it's not as much as you think...

From Germany!!

I think:rob I ordered this on flea-bay - came direct from maker in Germany. Made from 2mm laser-cut stainless-steel. If I remember correctly he did various logo's to suit the model.

Cheers...................Grizzly:beerjug:

(sorry, it's the only photo I've got showing it)

So now we know.

Where cheese graters go when they die!.

I have a piece of ali mesh from B&Q. Cost about £6 for a square metre.

Cut out a piece and used as an oil cooler guard, used the rest to cover the guttering drains around the house.

Before my bling phase I used a homemade guard made from B&Q mesh painted silver, sadly I succumed but at least it's not TT and a bit different:)
