Yes, I know this has been done to death, but not by me!

I sold my lovely R1150GS a year ago and I have enjoyed my Buell Ulysses ever since. Now I have a yearning to get another GS, so I thought I'd buy another R1150GS to share my garage with my Buell.

Yesterday I got to thinking about buying an R1200GS, but this would mean trading in my Buell...............

So........ what would you do and why?

If you love the Buell and trade it i think you'll be pig sick,1150 is a cool bike and if you can afford to have both id do that. The 1200 is a nice bike but id still rather have the other two.:Motomartin

Sell the Buell buy an R1100gs and with the money left over travel the world :aidan

Eight month's ago my plan was a new 1200gsa.
Then i thought, 13k on one bike when you could have two.??.
So i decided a budget of 4k for a sportier bike and 9k for a year old GS.
So i found a mint R1100ss for 4k and set about looking for a 1200.I had ridden both the 1200gs and gsa and liked them both.
Then i rode a pals 1150gs and that was it hooked, for me it was much nicer to ride than either the 1200 gs or gsa it felt much more planted on the road plus my wife also prefered it.
To me it made the 1200 feel it bit revvy and i don't mean that in a bad way because i liked the 1200,i just liked the 1150 a whole lot more.
Plus i think it's much better looking.
I have now found an 1150gsa se,so with both bikes in the shed i am one happy bunny.
So to answer your question. keep your loverly Buell, find a nice 1150 and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Besides multi bike insurance is cheap enough these days:hide

Funny you should say that......................

Travel is on the agenda this year and I have just received a reply to an enquiry for a '97 R1100GS, 29k miles and with system luggage, 2 owners from new, FSH, for £2900................:augie

Snap it up... there's a lot you can do to further improve the bike with the cash you will have spare - assuming your budget included a similar 1150.

(97-on bikes are possibly THE most sorted of the entire oilhead family)

springs, hoses, seat and screen - job done :thumb

btw - mine is now almost 10 yrs old and later this week will have its FIRST (normal)replacement parts fitted - HT leads (not bad for a bike thats always lived outside)

I had a smilar scenario.... i have a Triumph 955i Daytona... and love the triple... i was looking at a 1200GS and would have had to trade in... then thought..... umm..... so bought a mint 1150 on a 51 plate full BMWSH....including a new clutch and kept the tona..... both bikes together less then the 1200 and the best of both worlds depending on my mood... Multi Bike insurance to add the GS was another £60.00 a year!!!!! bargin!

having said that i had a Buell M2 Cyclone.......as well..........thats gone! two argicultural twins in one garage is a strange thing indeed......

That's how I've ended up with 5 bikes (although 2 are oldies). The trade-in values are so low, I now keep the old bikes when buying new. And the last time, rather than trade in my 55 reg. 1200GS for a new GSA I bought a Monster 696 & kept the 1200 - for not much more.

One of the hyped up improvements of the 1200 over the 1150 was the weight saving. I might be wrong - and stand to be corrected - but the 1100GS weighs about the same as a 1200. That £2900 sounds like a bargain :clap

My mistake, the bike is a '98 on an R plate and we have agreed on £2,750 over the 'phone. Sounding better and better!
