As above.....just whipped me starter motor off cause it was making a bit of a racket not sluggish, just noisey, before I go any further can anybody who has recently had theirs (starter motor) off tell me....!! how much resistance was felt when you push by hand the starter pinion in the DOR....mine turns freely but does feel a little bit sticky not stiff just rough as its turned so it could be a repair kit just not convinced.
Any ideas. ?

TASK is not a Yank (not even close ; try English as a third language...). If Task wrote the instruction manuals for anything you would be sure to have no problems...those of us mechanically disinclined love his explanations...esp. with pictures!

Glad I logged in today. Finally got round to removing my starter because of the noise it was making. This could be handy for stripping it down. Thanks Pekkavee for the link. :thumb2

Since you may have yours in your hand "as it where" the starter... back to my original question then, does your starter pinion offer much resistance when you turn it by hand ?
I stipped mine cleaned /lubed it all but still feels a tad tight I suspect the overun clutch is producing the noise.:nenau

Don't have it to hand at the moment. Hope to open it up this evening if I get the chance.
