Want to grease the pivot points on my 1150GS 2002 standard rear shock. However, without dismantling things, can somebody tell me if it is the type of shock where you grease the bolt or a type of shock that you to grease the pivot sleeve? Hope this makes sense.
I have looked in my Haynes manual and all it says is 'depends on type of shock fitted'.

Not done the job myself yet but I was studying the area on my bike today, it should be apparent when you dismantle it where a bit of grease ought to go, either the sleeve will be a moving fit on the bolt or in the eye of the shock.

All the ones I have seen have a steel sleeve, bonded to a rubber sleeve, also bonded into the shock, like a car shock no greasing facility really?

Remove the bottom bolt, clean it up along with the little aluminium bush that sits in the recess, check the bush for cracks:eek.

Fresh threadlock, then regrease the smooth part the bolt shank, not the bush otherwise the bolt will pull the grease through and glue won't work.retorque to correct setting ride for another year.:thumb2
