Hi, Just bought a W-reg 1150GS and love it. But... The standard seat's a bit on the hard side on longer runs so what do you suggest? Get a gel implant in the seat or buy an Airhawk? I can't afford an expensive replacement seat.

Used Airhawk off this site £70
Sheepskin off lambland £10
Comfy enough for 600mile days
By the time it starts to get uncomfortable, need to stop for petrol anyway.

I've got a Sargent. A bit pricey, but has really solved 'sore ar$e' problems.
Just had one brief episode at end of a 2 week eurotrip.
It sits you slightly further back. Looks good too, I think.

I dropped lucky and bumped into a former R1150GS owner when buying a tyre from Mike at Cardiff Motorrad. £150 later I was riding away with a Sargent seat fitted to my bike. It even has the correct colour trim!

After 2600 miles riding to Austria & back I can confirm that the seat is much better than the standard seat fitted to a W reg bike. The comfy seat made the whole trip much more enjoyable. I only wish I had splashed out on one when I bought the bike in 2001...

same here, we did 700 mile days without any discomfort, my front one which came when I bought the bike, was so good that I bought a rear one for the wife :thumb2

there was a couple on fleabay

I did an end to end bunburner 1500 miler with a Lambland pet mat which cost me £10, and I have also used an airhawk (which I imported from the US via eBay) on various bikes in the past. Both are great and made a huge difference, the pet mat is cheap and the airhawk is neater.

So far I haven't used either on my 1200 GSA as I find the standard seat to be good enough.

Hope this helps

David
