1150gs side stand

Hi lads Im hoping someone can help I bought my first gs late last year here in Ireland and when buying it it seemed to lean over a lot on the side stand and the guy told me thats the way there ment to be so you can get yer leg over so to speak, now thats no prob but then I have to lift it off the side stand and thats such a pain its really putting me off the whole bike.
I have tryed an extra large foot for this and it did help a bit but its still so hard to lift the bike off the side stand, I have been looking at some pics on the site and none of them seem to lean as much,
can any one tell me what the prob might be as Im getting to the point where Im taking the honda out instead and I love the gs but this is a turn off

lots bolt on a ice hockey puck to the bottom of the stand to raise the height, or if you cant find one of those, a local enginneering firm could make you one out of nylon, no more than 20mm though

Hi mate.

Nippy normanys at the top of the page sells what you need for £22.
I got mine and fitted on saturday. It is like a hockey puck. It pushes the bike up an inch. it is a small block that slides over the side stand and has a lock screw on the bottom. its the biz onyack

Easy fix

removed side stand, get a gas axe, or blow lamp, put side stand in vice .

Then heat up till cherry red, n with a big copper hammer wack it so it bends back

clean side stand up , paint or send to coaters....

thats how i sorted mine

Side stand

Thanks for the advice lads I heard the adv stand was longer I was going to get one but a call to the local BMW dealer and a price of 150 euro plus vat at 21.5% means the puck seems the way to go

As you lift the bike off the side stand try pushing down on the right peg with your foot at the same time as pushing the bike up with your left leg - you'll find the bike stands up with alot less effort.

If you already do this proceed to try the other solutions

I have the same issue on my GSA but more so when fully loaded, i.e. both panniers a Touratch bag and tent.

Personally I hate the hockey puc style of extras so am going to take off the stand, cut it in half and get an engineering company to turn up a length of solid bar lathed at both ends so it will sit inside the stand. Clean neat and once finished will look standard.

If anyone is interested I will make some more up and you can have them at cost plus shipping.

I tried the Wunderlich item and it was good for a while but then started to break up, one day it wasnt there and the bike was back to leaning like a drunken bike, I had some offcuts of 10mm enginneering plastic I had picked up on my travels, I glued two slabs of it together, shaped them with the grinder, a drill, two nuts and bolts and Voila !
Of course I could have spent money
but that is better reserved for important stuff
