Bit of advice please guys.

Got a 2001gs, 42k, recently out for a ride and did a rapid down shift from top to 5th, and the clutch started to slip at 4500rpm. (all gears)

Pulled her over at first convinient place and did the normal look around and head scratching.

Got back on to nurse her home and clutch had stopped slipping, since then have done about a 1000miles with no problems.

Thing is, it's in the back of my mind as I know it's not right. Is it a precursor for a major upset, or is it a simple fix?

Have checked lever not snagged or reservoir over filled,

Cheers

as with most of these things it's a case of could be this, could be the other. Most likely options for a slipping clutch are worn clutch assembly or leak of oil onto the plate from a failed seal (having discounted the obvious lever etc. as you have done). Without a strip down it's not easy to give an exact diagnosis but you could remove the starter and have a look into the flywheel area to see if there's any fluid about that might have caused it. If it has not resurfaced and rides okay at the moment I'd say leave well alone until the fault re-appears, but that's just my 2p worth.

Thanks for your comments guys, much appriciated
