1150GS TT pannier rails

Can anyone who has TT pannier rails fitted on a 1150GS/A please measure the distance across the rear from 1 set of rails to the other.

I have just bought a set, and think that they have sent me the wrong cross-brace (as it seems to be about 2 inches too short).

16.5 inches / 42 cm

bar itself seems to be about 16 inches / 41cm
